Solar panel dimensions, weight and roof area
Sources checked
A panel's power rating does not determine its dimensions. Read the exact model's datasheet and revision. The source's 535 Wp LONGi LR7-60HVH-535M example measures 1,990 × 1,134 × 30 mm, approximately 2.26 m².
Confirm weight and revision
The manufacturer's page checked on 22 October 2026 gives 24.8 kg for the example, while an older datasheet gives 25.3 kg. The small Victron 175 W example measures 1,485 × 668 × 30 mm and is documented at about 11–12 kg depending on the source version. Confirm the product actually supplied.
SIEA describes ordinary panel weight at roughly 10–15 kg/m², without mounting. That is orientation information rather than a roof's structural assessment.
Roof area is more than module area
The 535 Wp example uses roughly 4.2 m² of module surface per kWp. A practical roof needs extra space for gaps, edges, obstacles, service access and, on flat roofs, row spacing.
There is no universal edge clearance or fastening pattern. Use the mounting system's instructions and the project-specific design. Include wind, snow and the mounting load rather than assessing the roof from panel weight alone.
