Solar panel certification: what tests do and do not prove
Sources checked
A solar-panel certificate applies to the named product and test scope. It does not certify the entire installation on your roof. Check model suffixes, document edition and standards, then verify the inverter, connection, mounting and any grant eligibility separately.
Match the certificate to the product
For modules, the source discusses IEC 61215 qualification and IEC 61730 safety testing. Ask for the testing body's certificate and check that it covers the delivered model or family. A logo in a brochure is not the full evidence.
Check validity and revision in the issuing body's records where available. Similar model names and regional variants must not be assumed identical.
Distinguish tests, warranties and approvals
A specified hail or mechanical-load test describes particular test conditions. It is not a promise that the module withstands every storm. Product and performance warranties have their own terms and claim routes.
A module certificate does not establish roof load capacity, correct cabling or distribution approval. Those require the project documents and checks for the complete installed system.
