Cleaning solar panels: need, method and safe access
Sources checked
Clean panels according to actual soiling and the manufacturer's instructions. There is no universal cleaning date or guaranteed output increase. For rooftop modules, include safe access and labour cost in the decision.
Establish whether cleaning is the right response
Review monitoring and safely visible soiling from the ground. Low output can also arise from weather, shade, equipment faults or missing data. Cleaning does not diagnose electrical damage or fix an export limit.
The proposed method should suit the exact module and mounting arrangement. Ask the service provider about water, tools, access and the manufacturer's restrictions rather than accepting a generic performance promise.
Compare service scope and records
Confirm the total price, the areas covered and how the work is documented. Include access equipment and responsibility for accidental damage. A large advertised percentage gain does not establish a financial benefit on your roof.
Damaged glass, exposed cables or loose mounting need professional assessment before cleaning. Do not improvise roof access or assume the electrical installation becomes harmless because the inverter is switched off.
