Choosing a hybrid inverter: battery, phases and backup
Sources checked
Choose a hybrid inverter for the exact battery, panel strings, grid connection and backup requirement. Two 10 kW products can differ in battery voltage, phase power, input limits and outage operation. Hybrid, asymmetric and battery-ready are not complete system specifications.
Verify the supported equipment combination
Request the exact inverter model, battery variant, controller, meter and required accessories. Check the manufacturer's compatibility and firmware requirements. A nominal battery voltage or matching brand does not guarantee supported operation.
Panel voltage and current must fit the inputs, including cold conditions and any rear-side contribution from bifacial modules. Confirm the phase arrangement and distributor requirements separately.
Specify the backup result you need
Identify essential circuits, continuous and starting loads, phases, reserve capacity and restart after depletion. Ask whether the quoted hardware includes the switching equipment and switchboard changes needed for that operation.
Compare complete installation and service costs. A headline inverter price leaves out important equipment and work, and a promise of future expansion should identify actual supported products and limits.
