A flexible panel can help where surface shape or weight prevents a conventional module. Flexibility does not mean unrestricted gluing, repeated folding or permission to walk on it. Confirm the permitted bend and installation method before purchase.
Match the mounting surface and instructions
Read the exact model's backing, adhesive, ventilation and bending requirements. A product suitable for one curved vehicle roof may not suit another surface or exposure. Confirm dimensions, total mass and how the panel can be serviced or removed.
Flexible and thin-film are not interchangeable technology names. Compare the actual cell technology and module specifications rather than inferring performance from a soft backing.
Check the charging system as well
Verify voltage, current, connectors and controller or power-station input limits. Rated Wp is a laboratory figure, while usable charging depends on light, temperature and placement.
If there is no strong weight or shape constraint, compare a rigid panel with its mounting system. Include durability evidence, product and performance warranties, installation labour and the practical cost of future replacement.
