Solar panel recycling: removal, transport and collection
Sources checked
Have the equipment's condition assessed and confirm a receiving collection point before removal. Roof dismantling, transport and handing over electrical waste are separate steps. A recycling charge included in a purchase does not automatically pay for removal and collection from your home.
Plan the entire route
Identify the modules and any other equipment being replaced. Ask the appropriate collection scheme or operator what it accepts, required condition and documentation, and who arranges handling and transport.
Professional electrical shutdown and roof work come before waste handover. Do not equate a collection-point address with a complete deinstallation service.
Reuse needs an assessment too
A working display or continued generation does not establish the condition of every component. Damage, electrical compatibility, mounting and available documents affect whether equipment can be reused elsewhere.
Agree the responsibilities and full price for removal, roof reinstatement, transport and disposal or reuse. Keep the work and handover records with the installation file, especially if only part of the system remains in service.
