Solar contracts, warranties and claims
Sources checked
A useful contract identifies the exact equipment, installation scope, payment milestones and responsible party if something fails. A panel manufacturer's warranty does not replace the supplier's responsibility for the delivered installation.
Describe the completed result
Specify panel and inverter models, usable battery capacity and power, mounting, wiring, switchboard work, metering, inspection and connection administration. Identify exclusions and how changes are agreed. Separate any promised backup circuits and performance from the product name.
State deadlines, payment stages, roof responsibility, commissioning and required handover documents. A seller's advertised output or grant deduction needs its own assumptions and conditions.
Keep the warranty routes clear
Product warranty, performance warranty and workmanship responsibility are different. Ask which company receives a claim, whether diagnosis, travel, removal and reinstallation are covered, and what response arrangement is promised.
Keep monitoring access and the installation file in the owner's control. Confirm service responsibilities if subcontractors perform the work, and how warranties or access are transferred when the property changes owner.
