Solar fans: airflow, installation and operating time

Choose a solar fan for the space, required airflow and hours when it must run. Direct panel power does not establish operation after dark. An attic ventilator, portable personal fan and vehicle fan have different installation and power requirements.
Check the air route, not only the fan
Confirm the intended intake and outlet, replacement-air provision, mounting and weather protection. An airflow rating under stated conditions does not guarantee the same flow through a restricted building route.
Identify whether the panel, controller and any battery are included. Check what happens under weak sun and how the fan is controlled when ventilation is unwanted.
Match operation to the task
If ventilation is needed at night or through cloudy weather, compare a supported battery or alternative supply. Do not assume the solar label means a self-contained continuous ventilation system.
Assess noise, access for cleaning, filters where relevant and safe installation. A fan can move air, but it does not by itself diagnose building moisture, remove every cause of condensation or provide air conditioning.
