Solar floodlights: lumens, beam and charging
Sources checked
Compare a solar floodlight's light output, beam and operating mode rather than watts in its name. Establish which part of the yard it illuminates and for how long under the stated charging conditions. A larger marketing power figure does not prove better winter performance.
Compare the separate components
The panel, lamp and battery each have their own ratings. Check useful lumens, beam distribution and mounting height, along with panel positioning, usable storage and selected brightness mode.
A maximum runtime often assumes a full battery or reduced output. Motion-triggered use and continuous full brightness create different energy demands.
Price the installation you need
Confirm whether panel cables, supports and controls are included and which surfaces can accept the fixings. Assess weather protection for connectors and all components, not only the lamp housing.
Test glare, sensor coverage and useful light after installation. For dependable access or task lighting, evaluate actual seasonal charging and alternative supply needs rather than accepting an unconditional all-night claim.
