Solar path and step lights: illuminate the route

Sources checked

Path lighting should reveal the route and obstacles, rather than only create glowing garden points. Spacing depends on the actual light, mounting height and beam. A ground or stake design does not automatically establish that it can be walked on or driven over.

Assess the whole route

Identify steps, turns, edges and trip hazards. Compare useful light distribution and glare in the intended positions. A universal spacing based on LED count cannot establish adequate illumination.

Check drainage and the product's stated loading and installation limits. Flush-looking construction is not proof of load-bearing performance or suitability for standing water.

Give the panel useful light

A convenient path-edge position may be shaded by vegetation or the building, especially in winter. Confirm whether the panel is integrated or can be located separately and how cables or stakes are secured.

Read the operating mode and full-charge assumptions behind runtime. Where dependable access lighting is required, assess the actual seasonal energy arrangement rather than relying on decorative summer operation.
